Paul J. Scoptur Profile transcript
PAUL J. SCOPTUR: I like the trial work because I think I can communicate well and I can advocate for my clients in that type of setting. And I've always been a people person; I've always gotten along with pretty much anybody and jurors are just like people on the street and people that live next door, and I think I have a special talent in terms of relating to jurors. When it comes to my clients I think my top priority is serving them as best as I can. Different clients have different needs, different clients have different desires, and trying to serve them as best as I can and give them the best legal representation that I can give is probably my top priority. I do a fair amount of nursing home litigation because a lot of times the families don't know where to turn. They put their loved one in a nursing facility or an assisted-living facility and the facility promises to take care of them and they break those promises all the time. Those are the types of people that really are frail and can't help themselves. Just like I like to help kids too. Kids are particularly affected when they get hurt catastrophically and those are the types of cases that really fulfill me as a lawyer because I know I'm doing something for a family and I know I'm doing something for somebody that really can't help themselves.
