When heart patients take the double strength amount of the normal strength tablets, there is a risk of Digitalis toxicity in those patients who are experiencing renal failure as well. Digitalis toxicity could cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, low blood pressure, cardiac instability and bradycardia. Death could also result from excessive Digitalis intake. Reports of illness and injuries have been received also.
The products are distributed by Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. under a "Bertek" label and by UDL Laboratories, Inc. under a "UDL" label. Patients taking Digitek are being advised to contact their health care providers if they have any medical questions regarding the recalled Digitek tablets.
